About Us

Friendly Natives Plants and Design, located on a back road of south Bainbridge Island, is dedicated to helping homeowners and small project managers create, enhance and restore their habitat whether it be shoreline, meadow, wetland, woodland or backyard.

Lissa Bennett has been gardening and growing plants since she came to Bainbridge Island as a mere sprout. A lifetime of wandering the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas, enjoying the great diversity of flora and fauna therein, tending her own backyard garden patch, providing garden care for many of the beautiful homes on our special island, four years (recent) of traditional schooling at SSCC with AA degrees in Horticultural Studies and Landscape Design and Construction, and a growing concern to contribute to the health of our local and world environments has lead to the germination of this native plant nursery.

Lovingly grown on site, from seeds and specimens respectfully gathered. We offer trees, shrubs, perennials and grasses that will work well in almost any situation we have here in the Puget Sound/Western Washington area.

We are also offering formal and informal design services and garden coaching with the emphasis on using native materials, though not strictly as there are many exciting, useful and suitable exotic plants (just like in the human species) available.
